Invites Applications from unmarried Male candidates for Enrolment as Sailors for Direct Entry Diploma Holders (3 Years) for - 1/ 2010 Batch.
Course Commencing 01 February 2010
Eligibility Condition :
Marital Status: Unmarried male Indian citizens.
Qualification :
with minimum 50% marks in Mechanical/ Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunication/Aeronautical/Ship Building/ Instrumentation/Metallurgical Engineering from a Govt. recognised polytechnic/ Institute.
Age: Candidates should have been born between: 01 Feb 1988 and 31 Jan 1992 (Both dates inclusive).
Pay & Allowances:
The Basic Pay Band is Rs.5200-20200. In addition they will be paid Grade Pay @Rs.2000/- plus MSP @Rs. 2000/- plus ‘X’ Group Pay @Rs. 1400/- plus DA.
Physical Standards:
Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum Chest expansion of 5 cms

Training and Initial Engagement :
Enrolment Medical: All short listed candidates, who qualify the interview at INS Chilka, will have to undergo Final Enrolment Medical Examination at INS Chilka prior to enrolment. Candidates found ”unfit” during this medical examination will not be enrolled for training. No ”appeal” is permitted after the Enrolment Medical Examination at INS Chilka.
Training : The training for the course will commence on 01 Feb 2010, with 9 weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by 4 weeks of sea training. Thereafter, approx. 2 years training at INS Shivaji/Valsura.
Discharge as Unsuitable: Sailors are liable to be discharged as UNSUITABLE due to unsatisfactory performance at any time during the training.
Initial Engagement : The initial engagement is subject to successful completion of training. The initial engagement is of 10 Years.
Selection Criteria :
Selection of recruits is based on the order of merit on their performance in Written Test, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in the Medical Examinations.
